Hello friend! Today’s spotlight is on Anthropologie blouses. I have adored Anthropologie for many years, namely for their beautiful colors and prints. Today I’d like to focus on some of their blouses and why I love them. I’ll be showcasing an old favorite: my Anthropologie mushroom blouse.
Hello friend! As you read in my 2017 Fall Fashion Trends, plaid is “in” for fall. While that comes as no surprise, I am nonetheless pleased to have the print around to wear all season. As discussed in that trends post, the type of plaid that is in style is more 70’s and retro style than 90’s grunge style. Therefore, pull that flannel off your waist, and get ready for a more lady-like plaid. Let me show you how I wear a plaid shirt outfit.
To perfectly exemplify this trend, I will be featuring the Jenna Plaid Button Up Top from Shop Stevie. As soon as I saw the beautiful plaid on this shirt, I knew I wanted it for fall. I love the dropped shoulder and the pretty drape of the top. It sets it apart from the ubiquitous plaid button up we’ve seen everywhere else.
Plaid Shirt Outfit for the Weekend
What goes better with a plaid shirt than jeans? Nothing! I agree! Therefore, I paired my plaid shirt with my favorite fall jeans. I love the raw hem of this pair. It echoes the cool casualness of the top.
To accessorize this look, I added my Quay sunglasses. The gradient black lenses add another element of “cool” to the look.
Choosing shoes for the casual plaid shirt outfit was a bit limiting. Because I want to show off the pretty diagonal hem of the jeans, I didn’t want a bulky bootie. I therefore went with some simple pumps. Because metallic tones are in style for fall, I chose my silver pumps. They also went well with the silver grommets on the purse.
Plaid Shirt Outfit for the Office
While wearing a plaid shirt outfit on days off is easy, wearing one for the office may be a tad more tricky. To make it work, make sure the rest of your outfit and accessories are classic and work appropriate. Therefore, to style the plaid top for work, I paired it with an ivory pencil skirt. The look is chic and polished.
Hello friend! With fall here, I am starting to transition my closet. To better understand how I do so, read my fall transition post. As discussed in that post, because I live in Los Angeles, we stay warm for a bit longer than other parts of the world. Therefore, I thought that the J Crew colorblock eyelet peplum sweater would be the ideal transition piece.
J Crew Colorblock Eyelet Peplum Sweater: Review
I initially purchased this sweater on a whim during a late night online purchase (if you watch my insta stories, you know I am a midnight shopper!). When I received the J Crew colorblock eyelet peplum sweater I knew it would be a good transition piece. The pretty eyelet is reminiscent of summer, while the sweater back gives a nod to fall.
The fit of the J Crew colorblock eyelet peplum sweater is true to size. I purchased my usual XS. The peplum starts at a good spot, not too high and not too low. It also ends at a descent length (right at my hip bone). Thus it can be worn comfortably with any type of rise on the bottoms without risking showing off any unintended patches of skin.
As I had imagined during my midnight shopping spree, the J Crew colorblock eyelet peplum sweater is quite easy to style. I started with a casual summer look. Thus, I had to pair it with my denim shorts. They needed one last hurrah! It turned into a very cute and casual styling.
To prove that the J Crew colorblock eyelet peplum sweater is versatile enough to stay in my wardrobe, I decided to style it for a work outfit. I easily paired it with a pencil skirt. I think a peplum top always goes well with a pencil skirt. It is just a lovely feminine look.
Of course I had to add some print into the mix. At first I was a tad nervous to do so. I wasn’t sure if it would be too much with the multiple textures in the J Crew colorblock eyelet peplum sweater. But because the colors of the print were neutral, the leopard print skirt paired well with the top.
For shoes I went with classic nude pumps. I also added my fall sunglasses. I had been looking for a brown pair of sunglasses that weren’t boring. These ones with their metallic finish are just what I wanted.
I was concerned about accessorizing with the J Crew colorblock eyelet peplum sweater. Because of the textures in the top and the ribbing at the collar, I didn’t want to add a necklace that would overshadow the top. I therefore went with a dainty yet statement making pendant necklace.
After these initial pairings of the J Crew colorblock eyelet peplum sweater, I am quite happy with my purchase. It will be a good item to wear during fall transition and beyond! How would you style the J Crew colorblock eyelet peplum sweater?
As we head into fall, I thought I had to put away my kimonos. This thought saddened me. I was enjoying wearing kimonos because they are a fun light layer. Then I discovered something at Target (of course!) Introducing the fall kimono!
A fall kimono is usually of darker color and may also be made of a more substantial fabric than its summer counterparts. I purchased the Floral Kimono Jacket Purple/Green.
From my summer kimono outfits (as seen in this post), I knew I could make this work appropriate. So I wore it right away to work paired with the J. Crew mixed stripe pencil skirt and a blush pink t-shirt. Can we have a moment of appreciation for this skirt? The vertical striped panel on the sides is so flattering. All in all, the elements of this outfit make it a perfect fall transition look. It has some fall colors in it but is still light and airy enough to last through the late summer warmth.
As for jewelry, I chose the Baublebar Lariat choker for my standout piece. Since the neckline of the shirt was so plain, I wanted a necklace with layered interest. I could have also gone with a large ornate statement necklace, but I think the simplicity of the choker did not detract from the overall look. Furthermore, the lariat style helped to break up an otherwise large expanse of simple pink t-shirt.
Another fun element I added was the Double Crossbar Metal Pantos Aviator Sunglasses. Ilymix kindly gifted me these glasses and I couldn’t be happier. I have been searching for trendy shades and this pair is perfect. I love the fun shape of the lenses as well as the bar across the top. They fit my face perfectly.
I chose the gold frame with silver mirror lenses. See how fun they are when they catch the light? I adore them! Note also another way to wear the choker: loosely draped instead of tied in a bow.
Will you be wearing kimonos this fall? How do you plan on styling them? Let me know in the comments!
