Hello friend! Welcome back to another post in my skirt code series. In this series I discuss the many reasons I have for wearing mostly skirts. If you haven’t read the other posts yet, make sure to catch up on reasons 1-5. My sixth reason for wearing mostly skirts is that skirt design allows for more architectural interest than pants. Let me demonstrate that with my Claudine shirting skirt from Anthropologie.
Claudine Shirting Skirt Review
Before I get into the nitty gritty of my skirt code thesis, let’s take a look at the Claudine shirting skirt, shall we? I was happy to score this on the Anthropologie website during the Black Friday sale. It obviously caught my eye because of its unique details. When I received it in person, it looked as beautiful as it did online.
The black fabric is a medium thick polyester material that is completely opaque and lies smoothly against the skin. The white “shirting” fabric is 100% cotton, therefore that part has a tendency to wrinkle. That is the only concern I had with the skirt, and that’s mostly because I hate to iron!
Claudine Shirting Skirt Fit
Because the Claudine shirting skirt is made by Asilio, an Australian brand, I was confused about my size. The sizing advice online had recommending sizing up. I went up 2 sizes, but I think I would have been OK with going up just one size. But otherwise, I found the fit to be beautiful and flattering. Just look at how pretty it flows.
Skirt Code: Claudine Shirting Skirt
Now, back to our skirt code discussion. The Claudine shirting skirt is a perfect example of structural details I enjoy in skirt. It has intricate folds and asymmetrical hemlines. Both of these details adds so much interest to the garment. A pant, in contrast, could not bear the same details and look right, don’t you agree?
I simply adore skirts like this. It is also easy to dress up or down. I chose to wear it more casually here, relying on my fallback top, a chambray shirt. But to make it more evening-appropriate, add a sparkly top or a sexy bustier and some jewelry. The skirt will then be ready for a night out on the town!
