Hello friend! It’s time to visit another Skirt Code post! If you missed the other reasons, check them out here: reason 1, reason 2, reason 3, reason 4. The fifth reason why I prefer to wear skirts is that they are more sanitary. This post will surely out me as a germ-a-phobe, but I am OK with that. I have long come to terms with who I am! I will be demonstrating my point with the lovely J Crew rainbow gingham tie front skirt.
As I’ve said before, I wasn’t always a devout skirt wearer. In fact, when I first started to work, I probably wore pants most of the time. I’ve always had a love of skirts, especially the ones at Anthropologie. But I still wore pants to work for most of the week, mostly just because of habit.
Then came the fated day. I will spare you the details, but when I went to use the restroom, I walked into the stall without realizing I was stepping into someone’s bodily fluids. Because I was wearing long trousers that draped over my shoes, the hem of the pants was touching the ground and said fluid. Gross, I know! Needless to say I was thoroughly disgusted. I think I even threw those pants away!
After that day, I started to wear more skirts. The more I thought about it, the more I was bothered by bringing home clothes that had swept the floor of the hospital (my work), public restrooms, and so on. Because unlike shoes, I keep my clothes on when I snuggle with my daughter on our beds. I just didn’t want to bring those germs into our homes and beds. Wearing a skirt can decrease the chances of that occurring.
This is also the reason why I do not wear maxi skirts or dresses to work. The maxi-mum (pun intended) length that I will do is a mid calf. That still leaves plenty of room between the hem and the floor.
J Crew Rainbow Gingham Tie Front Skirt Review
Now you know one of my quirks! Let’s switch gears and talk about the skirt in detail. The J crew rainbow gingham tie front skirt is a lovely specimen of a skirt. The colors are vibrant and fun. The fit is perfect. I chose a petite this time as I noticed this was a bit of a longer skirt and I wanted it to hit right at the knee. I got the 2P and it fits great (for reference I am usually a 0 in J Crew).
J Crew Rainbow Gingham Tie Front Skirt Styling
When I first tried to style the J Crew rainbow gingham tie front skirt, I was a bit stumped. I felt it already had a lot of color and print in it, so I was leaning towards a solid top. But I still wanted some interest. Therefore I went with a lace tee. This ensured there was no competition in color or pattern. But the textured top added another element of style.
As you already know, I love pairing my skirts with chambray. While the J Crew rainbow gingham tie front skirt would also look great with a chambray top (like this one), I chose to mix it up for this look. Therefore I added the chambray element in my jacket instead.
For jewelry I went with rose gold accents including my chain link tassel pendant from Baublebar.
While this may be an unexpected reason to wear skirts, it is still one of my reasons. It is definitely not my most compelling reason, but it was one that spurred my desire to mostly wear skirts to work. Whatever the reason, I encourage you to wear skirts more, especially to work. Plus with some as amazing as the J Crew rainbow gingham tie front skirt, why wouldn’t you wear skirts daily?
