Pattern Primer: Anchor Print Skirt

Hello friend! With summer almost over, I figured it was time to finish up my summer print series. Earlier this summer I discussed palm tree print, cactus print, and pineapple print. Now I am switching gears away from fruit and foliage, and looking at anchor print. I love a beautiful anchor print in the summer. Therefore when I found my anchor print skirt on Etsy, I was thrilled. Let me show you how I style it!

My Anchor Print Skirt

Although I found my anchor print skirt two years ago, the seller has a similar version in mint. I love the quality of my skirt and the fact that the print is BOLD! You guys know how I adore a bold print! The main reason I love such large prints is because they make pattern mixing so easy. Therefore I’ve worn it with multiple prints many times. However, for that reason, I decided that for this post, I’d wear it with a solid (gasp!).

Anchor Print Skirt 2017 Style

For this year’s styling of my anchor print skirt, I paired it with my ruffle chambray top. As I’ve said many times, chambray tops are my go-to to wear with skirts. That’s probably why I have so many of them… a topic for another post.

Given that I only had one print in this outfit, I had to make my statement through another way. Thus I turned to a pop of color. Red is always so bold and statement-making, so I chose it. Hence the return of my red pumps.

To unify the colors, I chose my red and blue striped clutch.

Lastly for jewelry, I chose to wear just some bold earrings. Because the sleeves of the top were so dramatic and the neckline so high, I thought a necklace would definitely be too much. However, I even considered forgoing earrings altogether. But in the end I thought the look was too bare without them.

Anchor Print Skirt: Previous Styling

Earlier this summer, I wore the anchor print skirt with gingham. I just love the two prints together. The small scale of the gingham perfectly complemented the large anchor print.

Another styling of this anchor print skirt comes to us from last year. I wore it with navy stripes. I even wore it with three prints! It’s one of my favorite “polished whimsy” outfits because it’s a triple pattern mix and super fun!

For another fun look, try pairing the anchor print skirt with a graphic tee. I did so last year with this look.

I hope my styling of my anchor print skirt inspires you to wear yours more often. Or if you don’t have one, to purchase this fun print. It’s quite easy to style, I promise! Check out these fun options below!
